The Center for Sonic and Psychospiritual Research leads the exploration of the intersection between creative arts and healing. The Center sponsors Meta-Artists to reside at The Tavern. The Center provides equipment and resources for Meta-Artists to practice, research and present work that intersects music, art, metaphysics, holistic healing, and beyond. The Center curates and presents free public events for Meta-Artists to present and further test their findings, and for the general public to engage with arts and healing in new formats
Vision
The Center for Sonic and Psychospiritual Research will be an intentional community of self-sufficient Meta-Artists: artists, musicians, metaphysicians, healers, scientists, etc. that study the intersections of art and clinical holistic healing, using the various disciplines as an entry point to study fundamental energies which articulate time and shape our realities.
The Center reimagines the formats, methods, and relationships of public engagement with art (specifically performing arts) and healing by merging the two. Where art has long left the audience as a circumstantial observer with little effect on the creation, The Center brings the audience to the center, shifting the relationship such that the audience’s biological/psychospiritual makeup and needs shape the art’s creation. Where healing often takes place in a clinical setting, The Center creates communal settings where healing takes place with emphasis on the aesthetic value of the healing medium.
The Center ties together multiple disciplines with the intention of illuminating the fundamental energies that create our reality. For example, The Center will host events for harvest times at The Tavern. Certain harvests will yield certain crops, so we can ask “why are these crops available at this time?” Astrology shows us that certain archetypal dynamics unfold over time, which corresponds to different psychological and mundane events. So, the crops at a certain harvest must be a tangible, low-dimensional slice, of the fundamental energies at play during that particular time. We can organize our music by the same energies’ principles that formed the crops, and present this music as a type of harvest-ritual performance. And then we can use the crops to make a meal for the community.
Short term, The Center will sponsor month-long Meta-Artist residencies at The Tavern. Meta-Artists will be able to practice, research, write & rehearse individually as well as communally, and assist with agriculture & eco-design efforts. On the weekends, The Tavern will host free public events where Meta-Artists can present their work through performance/presentation.
As The Tavern rebuilds its outbuildings to house transient residents, a more permanent community of Meta-Artists will crystalize in the main house, all unified in a focused research combining the study of music/sound/vibration, metaphysics/fundamental energies, science/healing and botany/agriculture.
The Center for Sonic and Psychospiritual Research is currently housed at The Tavern. The Tavern provides living spaces for all residents, and has a private living room and office space for the founder.
